The Travancore Dewaswom Board, one of the richest temple administration bodies of South India, is facing a serious crisis with the present conflict between the board president and two other members reaching a flash point which led to a satyagraha on Tuesday by one member in protest against the actions of the president.

Member P Narayanan sat on a dharna in front of his office for six hours after he found the room locked and his name-plate removed from the wall. He ended his dharna on the directive of his political boss, CPI State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan. The room of the other member Sumathikkutty Amma was also locked and the nameplate had also been removed.

Board president CK Guptan is a CPI(M) nominee while Narayanan, former Vaikkom MLA, is from the CPI. Sumathikkutty Amma is an RSP nominee.Within a span of two weeks after the formation of the new Dewaswom board, things had gone in a manner as expected by the people.

The Temples of Hindus should be administered by the Devotees and not by any third rate political puppets. The Government which can’t even handle the existing  Temples under their control in a proper manner is trying to grab more Temples which are well administered under Kshetra Samrakshana Samithi’s and Hindu Ashrams
