The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that the son of a former Union Minister is hand in gloves with the construction of apartments in Kochi, with the help of DLF, behind which lurks corruption running into crores. The Kerala BJP has sought an inquiry into the matter.

Apartments have been constructed in various parts of Kochi, after the reclamation of backwaters and by flouting norms which call for conservation of coastal areas. The Chief Minister and Revenue Minister have taken stands that comply with the dealings of these real estate mafia dons. What is happening in Kerala is the implementation of jungle laws,” alleged BJP State General Secretary AN Radhakrishnan, while addressing the press yesterday.

AN Radhakrishnan has categorically claimed that the party is ready to furnish all details pertaining to the construction of these illegal apartments. “There has been large scale corruption mounting upto Rs 1500 crore, behind these illegal constructions,” added Radhakrishnan.

“The role of Kochi Corporation should be investigated as well. The government also has the moral responsibility of efface these apartments that have sprung up illegally, failing which the BJP will plunge into various remonstrations,” he added.
