Former Ernakulam Collector Mohammed Haneesh – Associate of Real estate Mafia

A Crime Branch team took the statement of Haneesh at his office here on Friday. The questioning, which began at 11 a.m., lasted till 2.30 p.m. It is learnt that the questioning pertained to the land transaction at Puthenvelikara in Ernakulam district earlier this year. About 88 acres of land was purchased in the name of Adarsh Prem Properties. Santosh Madhavan was the agent for the transaction. As per the land ceiling norms, a person can hold only 15 acres of land. The mutation of the land was conducted by the village office authorities on the basis of an order given by Mohammed Haneesh, who was then the District Collector of Ernakulam.

Dr. M. Beena, who had recently taken over as Ernakulam Collector replacing Haneesh, had unearthed the irregularities and initiated steps to cancel the mutation. On further enquiry, it was found that Adarsh Prem Properties could not be traced.
