The relay fast by Sangh Parivar organisations at the Stadium Corner here to protest against the arrest of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Valsan Thillankery on Monday last in connection with the murder of CPI(M) worker KK Yakub last month, continued for the third day on Sunday.

Inaugurating the third day’s fast, State BJP president PS Sreedharan Pillai alleged that Valsan had been falsely implicated in the case.

He said the Sangh parivar had taken the arrest as a challenge and it would continue the protest against injustice done to Valsan.

Alleging that Kerala was moving to “cell rule” of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), he said such moves would be defeated through democratic means.

Valsan Thillankery is regarded as the most influential laeader of RSS in the highly volatile district of Kannur.

Attempts on his life were allegedly made several times by the Marxist party.

The sources in the organisation say that he is being pin pointed by the CPI(M) for the work he was doing in the Marxist strong hold. He has served as the Saririk Sikshan Pramukh of the state unit of RSS.
