3 held with Rs 1.27 lakh fake notes

MALAPPURAM: Police arrested three persons from Angadipuram and seized fake currencies to the tune of Rs.1,27,500 on Tuesday.

Abdul Kalam Azad, 36 a native of Vazhakad, Chekku Muhammed, 56, Madikkeri and Naushad, Omanoor were the trio who were held with the fake currencies by the Perinthalmanna police.

The seized currencies were in the denominations of Rs.1000 and Rs.500. Police have also recovered Rs. 14,500 from them which is also suspected as fake currency.

The arrested were presented before the Perinthalmanna First Class Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday and were remanded till April 1.The trio were trapped by the police team led by Perinthalmanna CI Saji Jacob.
