Explosives seized


KOZHIKODE: Thamarassery police, on Sunday, seized huge quantity of materials meant for making explosives from an autorickshaw during a routine traffic checking.

According to police, the seized materials include 68 kg of gun powder, five packets of detonators containing 100 each and two rolls of wicks.

Auto driver A T Muhammed, a native of Ambayathodu, near Thamarassery, was arrested while transporting the stuff from Mukkam.

He claimed that it was meant for granite quarries.

The police have initiated an inquiry. Muhammed will be produced before the court on Monday.
