Encroacher Pastor’s house demolished in Munnar

MUNNAR: As part of the efforts to flush out illegal encroachments in Munnar, the authorities on Thursday demolished a tin-sheeted house owned by pastor Arul Joy.

The officials said that the the pastor was living along with his family in the 10-cent land. The plot was part of a crematorium owned by the Munnar panchayat.

The house was demolished following a directive from the District Collector who acted on the basis of a directive from the High Court. The pastor moved the court claiming possession of the land. The Sub-Collector along with officials at the village and taluk levels took part in the operation.
