Employment generation the need of the hour: Patwardhan

BMS All India General Secretary Udai Rao Patwardhan today said that employment generation was the need of the hour and the governments should create productive employment.

Emphasising the need for a united move from the trade unions to resolve the employment problem in the country he said the society should be the master of trade unions and not politics.

Mr Patwardhan, who was here to address the three-day State Conference
of the BMS, while speaking to media persons here today said that in Kerala the unemployment problem was 20 per cent compared to the national average of 7.7 per cent.

He said that the western technology was a labour saving technology and was unsuitable for our country, he said.

“Knowledge and Plantation sectors would be the ideal proposition to remove
the unemployment problem in Kerala”, he added.
