Earlier Reports of Human Trafficking Ignored by Govt to Appease a ‘Particular Community’: Former SP Balakrishnan

published on June 18, 2014
Former Special Branch SP Balakrishnan has come up with a startling revelation that there were instances of child trafficking even earlier. Sometime back, in 2010, even though there was information about 81 children being taken to Kozhikode from AP, no action was taken in this matter.
“The senior police officers and government paid a deaf ear to the information received. It is so clear that they were all out to shield a certain community. Even the government seems to have taken a favourable stand regarding the child trafficking issue,” alleged Balakrishnan.
“These activities are being rendered with the sole aim of making money- to get government aid and foreign aid as well. The government machinery tried to brush aside the report submitted by DIG Sreejith. That was the type response that came from three of our ministers. This is nothing but minority appeasement and all that is being done is nothing but a drama to secure votes of one particular religious community,” he said.
“There will be an independent inquiry only if Centre takes over the investigation,” he added.
