Dumping of wastes at Sabarimala creates environmental problem

via Mahadev published on January 8, 2006

Piling of wastes at Sabarimala Sannidhanam has evoked criticism at the meeting of various departmental heads reviewing the arrangements for the Makara Sankranti season.

It is alleged that heaps of wastes and garbages at the Sannidhanam have become an environmental problem. The area is becoming stinky, pilgrims alleged. They said that inadequate infrastructure for disposing of wastes at Sannidhanam and Pampa would result in much of the wastes reaching the holy river Pampa, which has already dried up.
