Dowry issue : Sreekala weds her cousin

KOLLAM: Finally, Sreekala got married to her cousin Kannan alias Ramesh, a goldsmith, in the presence of many officials at the Anandavalleeshwaram Temple this morning. Her marriage had been put off last 27th, as she had opposed to marry the man, who insulated her parents in the name of dowry.

The marriage of Sreekala, daughter of Gopalakrishna Aachary and Rajammal, was earlier fixed to Pradeep Kumar, son of Lakshmana Aachary and Yamuna Ammal. Pradeep’s parents had insulted the bride’s parents for not paying the full amount as promised earlier. Her dowry was fixed to Rs 100,000 and 15 sovereigns. As her parents were not able to provide the full amount, her marriage had been cancelled.
