Dismal verdict over Islamic ‘Verdict’ to chop the hand

Kochi: It has been reported that sizable apprehension looms over every single terror related case in Kerala, now that the dismal verdict has been pronounced in the arm chopping case of Professor Joseph, when the state witnessed the very first instance of Talibanism?

Investigating agencies are shocked with the meagre quantum of punishment awarded to the accused inspite of the execution of crime having been proved without doubt. Covert investigations are on to assess if there has been any lapse on the part of NIA during the course of case investigations. Intelligence agencies have also revealed that the stand taken by prosecution is not above suspicion. Following pronouncement of verdict in the arm chopping case, Intelligence agencies are maintaining strict vigil over other terror related cases like Panayikulam SIMI case, Vagamon case etc.

There are also reports of witnesses in terror related cases experiencing emotional turmoil, which has become a matter of concern. Those who come forward as witness in these cases are facing threats & are under lot of mental stress.

As for those accused in these terror related cases, it is a former judge who appears on their behalf. Also the sentence pronounced by the religious Court based on Shariat law left those accused jubilant.

It has also been confirmed that a sudden surge of sentiments was not the reason behind the arm chopping. Owing to this attitude, the accuseds had a jubliant expression on their face. This together with the accuseds’ body langugage has made many conclude the same.
