DIC(K) approached us for alliance, says BJP
BJP Kerala State president PS Sreedharan Pillai has said that the DIC(K) leadership had approached his party for an alliance in the coming Assembly polls.
This was before the alliance with the United Democratic Front (UDF) materialised, said Mr Pillai while addressing mediapersons here on Sunday.
The BJP leader said that there would not be any clandestine deal with any political parties in the polls. He also added that some people had approached the party by projecting the bogey of anti-Marxism. The BJP had clearly stated that the party preferred open deals.
Mr Pillai said that not even BJP sympathisers would vote for the UDF in the Assembly polls and there was no question of extending any support to the UDF on the pretext of opposing the LDF.
He claimed that the UDF had been hijacked by the Muslim League. He said that almost all important political decisions of the front were being taken by the League.
He sarcastically said that KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and other leaders had no voice in the UDF with compared to the command the League had.
The BJP would contest in 134 seats and five seats would be provided to the Janata dal (U). In Thiruvananthapuram East, the candidate would be Jyotindra Kumar of the Hindu Munnani.
