The BJP termed unfortunate the signing of the Ordinance by the Governor neglecting the protests from devotees and Hindu orgainsations. BJP State general secretary MT Ramesh said in a statement that the Governor’s decision, which amounted to supporting the CPI(M)-led Government’s bid to takeover administration of temples, was a challenge posed to the majority community.

The statement said that even the limited demand for a discussion on the Ordinance with Hindu organisations was not met. Ramesh alleged that there was a conspiracy behind the Ordinance to let the Marxist fellow-travellers to plunder temple properties. The BJP declared solidarity with devotees and the various Hindu outfits agitating against the Ordinance.
