Defamation case: Court orders VS, Pinarayi to pay Rs 1.1 lakh as compensation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram sub-court today directed Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and P Karunakaran to pay Rs 1.1 lakh as compensation to opposition leader Oommen Chandy in connection with a defamation case. The court pronounced the verdict after considering the plea against the duo in connection with a report published in CPM mouthpiece Deshabhimani alleging Chandy’s involvement in the poultry scam.
