KANHANGAD: The district council of the CPI has condemned the murder attempt on their party activist E Manoj at Puthilot on Tuesday by CPM workers.

The CPI leaders said here on Thursday that the CPM leadership was aware of the attack on Manoj, who had quit the CPM along with others to join the CPI in Puthilot.

The CPI leaders said Manoj was an active worker of the CPM action committee which had conducted agitations demanding probe into the incident of poisoning the well of a DYFI leader during the last civic election.

Around one hundred CPM workers had quit the party and joined the CPI in Puthilot in protest against the poisoning of the well of the DYFI worker by the CPM activists. The CPI leaders said the CPM in Puthilot was unleashing violence on their activists.
