published on March 1, 2015

Chakkarakkallu (Kannur): Kannur, which continues to be strife ridden following the brutal attack on BJP leader CP Ranjith, witnessed the burning of the national flag by CPM marauders. The goons had earlier ravaged and destroyed the Seva Kendra initiated in memory of slain RSS leader Manoj, in the wee morning hours. The RSS Karyalaya at Chittariparambu has also been devastated by a gang of 50 Marxist assailants, immediately after unleashing terror in the area with a bomb attack.

The attack on Ranjith was initiated and spearheaded by Vinu, the son of resident MLA KK Narayanan’s brother. The gang, consisting of 10 members unleashed terror at 9.00 am in the morning while Ranjith and his brother Rajeesh were going for work. The Marist attackers were well armed with swords and knives, with which they lashed out at Ranjith, leaving deep injuries on his head and limbs. Ranjith was rushed to a private hospital in Thalassery, following which he was taken to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital after reports from the former stated critical conditions.

Ranjith, the son of Raveendran, a local BJP leader is likely to lose his limbs, if surgery is not performed at the earliest. Even though an emergency operation was conducted, he still continues to be in a grave stage. Rajeesh was also injured in the confrontation.

In the attack unleashed on the newly constructed Seva Kendra, the CPM goons wrecked havoc on the building, destroying all its doors and windows, an LCD TV, chairs and tables, lights etc. The ransackers also made a theft of Rs 16,000, which was kept locked.

The RSS Karyalaya, known as Vivekananda Seva Sadanam, destroyed by the Marxist criminals stands completely razed, with commodities inside the building  like tables, chairs, books etc obliterated. Police was deployed, but they remained mute spectators to the CPM charade.

Kannur has always been a troubled spot, with Swayamsevaks and BJP leaders constantly bearing the brunt of Marxist extremities and terrorism. Sources have stated that the move by the Red Brigade is part of a larger conspiracy to unleash violence in neighbouring areas of Thalassery as well.
