CPM-Pinarai faction continues attack on V.S Group
ALAPPUZHA: Eight CPM activists, who participated in the protest march, were beaten up by a group of Pinarayi faction in Mararikulam. Bhuvanachandran, father of Lathish P Chandran, member of V S Achuthanadan’s personal staff who was expelled from the party by the area committee, was also injured in the attack. Among those who suffered injuries in attack were VS group supporters Narayanan, Karthikeyan and Ratnakumar.
The VS supporters were attacked while they were taking out the march and the scattered protestors entered the house of Lathish P Chandran, who is also the former general secretary of the Kerala University Students Union. Interestingly, the marriage betrothal of Lathish P Chandran, is scheduled for Thursday.
The house of Karthikeyan was also attacked. A heavy posse of police are camping in the area to prevent further incidents of violence. The police are standing security before the houses of known VS supporters.
With no signs of any patch-up, both the groups in the area are in a mood to step up the offensive against each other.
This is the first time in the history of Mararikulam, where the party has around 4000 members, 200 branch committees and 13 local committees, that the row between two groups are coming to open display.
