KOZHIKODE: After West Bengal Minister Subhash Chakrabarti’s controversial Kali pooja, it’s Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan who is facing the music for offering pooja at the Kadampuzha Devi Temple in Malappuram district.

A Shatrusamhara Pooja was offered at the temple in the name of the CPM leader and his son, though the minister himself did not personally visit the temple. The Kodiyeri act was raked up by none other than the supporters of Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, who run the ‘Janashakti’.

Janashakti, in its latest edition, carried a report stating that the minister and his son had offered pooja at the temple. The magazine got the information from an affidavit filed by the temple authorities in the High Court. The case was related to a VIP visit at Sabarimala. The name of ‘Balakrishnan from Thalassery’ appeared in the list provided by the Devaswom authorities.

The name of his son also figured in the list. However, there is no mention that the Balakrishnan in the list is the Home Minister. When queried, Kodiyeri denied that he had offered pooja at the temple. He said it could be the handiwork of his opponents (in the party?), but the Kadampuzha temple authorities told a private channel that the minister’s wife, his son and the personal staff had come to the temple and had offered the pooja.
