CPM-League clash in Nadapuram; shops vandalized

Kozhikode, Tuesday, October 13, 2009: The hartal called by CPM at Kalachi in Nadapuram turned violet today, after the CPM workers and Muslim League activists clashed with each other and hurled country bombs. Several incidents were stray violence was reported from Kalachi town.Stones were pelted on police force also. Large contingent of police have been stationed here.

The violence apparently began when stones were pelted at a demonstration taken out by Muslim League activists on Monday, following this CPM local committee office was attacked yesterday, in which CPM local secretary K Narayanan was injured. To protest the attack the CPM had called for a hatal today The District Collector has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC for 48 hours in view of the tension prevailing in the areas
