The BJP has taken exception to the United Democratic Front (UDF) Government’s stand that a CBI investigation is not needed into the controversial SNC Lavalin deal and said it exposed the unholy nexus between the UDF and the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

In a statement here on Thursday, PK Krishnadas, general secretary of the Kerala unit of the BJP, alleged that the UDF took this decision as directed by the national leadership of the Congress and the CPI(M), the parties which are allies at the Centre.

CPI(M) State secretary and the-then Electricity Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is in the dock in the deal that caused a Rs 375-crore loss to the State, Mr Krishnadas alleged.

The CPI(M)’s silence over the Oommen Chandy Government’s stand against a CBI investigation into the Brahmapuram diesel plant deal during the UDF rule clearly shows that both Fronts are unanimous in resorting to corruption and protecting the corrupt, he said.

The BJP said that the CBI should investigate both the Lavalin and Brahmapuram deals and expose the ‘deception’ of Congress-Marxist leaders.
