‘CPM behind organised leaking of report’
KOZHIKODE: BJP state president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has alleged that the CPM is behind the organised leaking of the Marad Judicial Commission report.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the CPM’s attempt is to protect its cadres who are involved in murders. “Around 28 CPM workers are facing trial in the case. My genuine apprehension is that the party is trying to torpedo the trial of the case which is under way at the Special Court,†he said.
Pillai said that there are reasons to suspect that the leaking of the report is ill-motivated. “There is a clear political motive behind the leaking.â€
The government was given time to table the report in the Assembly to enable it to take action on the suggestions made in the report, he said. The BJP leader said it cannot be said that the second violence in Marad was a sequel to the violence in 2002. “The first one was a law and order issue. The killings on May 2, 2003 was a terrorist attack,†he said.
He deplored the attempt to prove that the Sangh Parivar also is responsible for the violence. “We only tried to prevent further escalation of violence,†he said. Pillai reiterated the demand for a CBI probe without disturbing the ongoing trial at the Special Court.
“The commission report has vindicated the stand we have been taking all along,†he said.
