CPIM, Cong surrender before Muslim outfits: BJP

KANNUR: BJP yesterday accused CPI-M
and Congress of trying to seek support of Peoples Democratic
Front and Popular Front of India ahead of the Lok Sabha
polls.

Such moves indicated that the two parties have openly
surrendered to the “Muslim communal” forces
in Kerala, BJP State President P K Krishnadas alleged
yesterday.

The CPI-M’s move to field a candidate acceptable to
Abdul Naser Maudhani’s PDP in Ponnani Lok Sabaha seat
much against the wishes of CPI, an LDF constituent,
to nominate a person of its choice is an instance of
surrendering to “Muslim communal” forces,
Krishnadas told a press conference here.

The CPI-M must clarify its stand on CPI General Secretary
A B Bardhan’s recent assertion that some forces were
trying to enter fray in Kerala through ‘backdoor manoeuvring,’
he said.

He also flayed the Congress for holding ‘poll pacts
with Popular Front of India, in which the Muslim outfit
National Development Front, accused of being involved
in series of subversive activities, merged recently.’
Condemning the recent ‘attacks’ by the CPI-M on BJP/RSS
workers in parts of Kannur district in which one person
was stabbed to death, Krishnadas said such “unprovoked”
acts were aimed at diverting attention of the “disgruntled”
party cadres.

BJP would lead a rally to the District Collectorate
here and to Chief Minister’s residence in Thiruvananthapuram
on March 13 to protest CPI-M “atrocities”
on political rivals, he said. Maintaining that police
machinery had been rendered totally ineffective, he
alleged that the local CPI-M leadership were found to
be dictating terms and implicating political rivals
in fabricated cases.

Ruling out support to CPI-M or Congress nominees, he
said BJP would think of helping any other candidate
who publicly sought BJP’s support in Lok Sabha elections
in Kerala.
