KANNUR: Alleging that fundamental outfits in Kerala were found to be aiding terrorist activities, the BJP yesterday demanded that the ruling CPI-M and opposition Congress tender a public apology for trying to win over Muslim outfits like the National Development Front and People’s Democratic Party in the state.

In the light of the reported disclosure that the two persons killed in the recent Army encounters in Jammu and Kashmir were reportedly members of the NDF and PDP, both the CPI (M) and Congress should apologise for trying to win over those outfits in the past, BJP State General Secretary M T Ramesh told reporters.

He alleged that leaders of ruling CPI-M had even shared a dias with PDP leader Abdul Naser Maudhani, while the Congress was often found to be adopting a soft approach on the ‘nefarious activities’ of NDF and PDP workers, despite BJP’s stiff opposition.

Ramesh said the CPI-M often came out in defence of NDF workers to ‘settle political scores’ with Sangh Parivar outfits as and when Left party workers were targeted from any quarters.

Maintaining that several cases against the NDF and PDP men in the past were scuttled due to political interventions, Ramesh sought re-examination of all such cases to expose the subversive activities of those outfits.

In the light of disclosure that one of the terrorists killed in Kashmir encounters was from the NDF, the State government should initiate steps to ban the outfit, he added.
