Counterfeit Currency Racket:Yet another Jihadi arrested.

A Islamist youth Haroon Rashid has been arrested for ferrying counterfeit currency worth three lakhs. A native of Kondottychira, 28 year old Haroon was carrying notes of the denomination of 1000 and 500. He was nabbed from Malappuram a few days ago.

Police officials are said to have followed Haroon secretly, following a tip off.

According to sources, police had received secret information about counterfeit notes being pumped into the state from Bangladesh via migrant workers. The plan was to pass these notes rampantly into the state via a team in Kondotty.

Haroon is said to be a contractor of a factory that makes hollow bricks. He is said to have made use of the services of Bangladeshi migrant workers to ensure circulation of counterfiet notes in the state. The notes are allegedly from Bangladesh.

The counterfeit notes that have been seized are said to be of paradigm quality and had most features that would ensure it being passed off as original. These notes, printed in foreign lands are usually shipped into India via Bangladesh through migrant workers. the workers are chiefly instrumental in propagating the same in all states, including Kerala. They are said to hand over these notes to unsuspecting shop keepers, while making a purchse during busy hours of the day. According to sources, perpetrators have entrusted the work to special groups, who are committed to the task of disbursing counterfeit notes.
