Conspiracy to derail Court directive on illegal land encroachment by KGS group in Aranmula

Pathanamthitta:  The Anti Aranmula Airport committee has alleged that there are conspiring moves to jeopardize the High Court directive seeking resuscitation of streams, rivulets and other water bodies that have been illegally filled with earth.

“The HC directive calling for action was passed on 16 June 2014. The Court verdict sought initiation of action within a month of having obtained a copy of the directive. However, those in charge of the project have been citing various reasons in delaying implementation of the Court order. District Collector’s report vouching the ownership of Government land as property of KGS group invited protest from agitators. All this is part of the conspiracy,” said those spearheading the agitation.

Reiterating that the collector’s report was created overlooking the directive issued by Land Revenue Commissioner stating that surplus land is Government land , the agitation committee said, “The time limit set by the Court for restoration of water channels lapsed on 26 July 2014. However, the collector had submitted a report to the government on 9 July, stating that all surplus land in Aranmula are in the hands of KGS Group.

The very next day, a meeting was convened by Revenue Minister, Advocate K Sivadasan Nair MLA, Industry department Secretary P H Kurian , district collector of Pathanamthitta in the presence of Minister forIndustry Department. The collector’s report was also presented at the meeting. It was unanimously decided to re-notify as ‘industrial zone’ the 308.5 acres of land, which included the 35 acres of surplus land from where removal of earth was directed by the Court. All evidences pertaining to the meeting have come out,” said the agitation committee, pointing out that a hurried convening of this meeting before the time limit set by Court is indeed to sabotage the Court directive.
