CM must clarify family associations with Star Flake: State BJP

published on July 8, 2013

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s family is involved in trying to hush up the solar panel scam. The BJP has alleged that the Chief Minister’s son Chandy Oommen is in charge of the Indian branch of Star Flake, a foreign solar panel company, associated with the solar panel firm run by Biju Radhakrishnan. Alleging that the Chief Minister’s family is associated with the firm, BJP state general secretary K Surendran has stated that matters on this front must be clarified.

“Star Flake is a company that offers technical assistance and equipment to those firms that intend to set up their own solar panel firms. They clai that their headquarters in India is situated in Nagampadam, Kottayam. However, when an inquiry was conducted, reports revealed that such a firm never existed. Also, this firm has not been registered officially in India. These reports came after an inquiry done in Delhi,” alleged Surendran.

“There are also reports of a person from the Chief Minister’s family having stood as a personal mediator wth Sreedharan Nair. It is said that Sreedharan Nair refrained from filing a complaint, owing to the assurance given by this person. However, Sreedharan Nair went ahead with the filing of the complaint, after he realized that the words of assurance were hollow,” he added.
