PALAKKAD: BJP candidate in the Palakkad Lok Sabha constituency and BJP former state president C K Padmanabhan has said that if elected he would work for the uplift of adivasis in the Attappadi region and address the issues faced by the farmers.

Addressing a meet the candidate programme organised by the Palakkad Press Club here on Monday, Padmanabhan said that there is a serious drinking water problem in the constituency and priority would be given to solve them too.

He said the farmers would be given seeds and farm equipment at subsidised rates and loans at low rates of interest.

Padmanabhan said that the alliance between the CPM and the PDP had become a Pinarayi-Madhani affair at an individual-level.

He said that many of the CPM cadres themselves and front partners were against this alliance and this situation would benefit the BJP.

He claimed that the National Democratic Alliance would come to power and the Congress was waiting at the doorsteps of small parties to strike out alliances.
