KOCHI: A good teacher should always inspire students and guide them to new heights, Swami Viviktanandji, head, Chinmaya Mission, Kerala, said.

Addressing a gathering in connection with the reception given to Chinmaya Vidyalaya Principal Maya Mohan on her winning the national award for the best teacher, the Swami said that there are three types of teachers.

One tells the student, the other explains to him and the third one demonstrates.

“Only the teacher who demonstrates finds a place among the students and he is remembered by them even after their school days,” he said.

Hailing Maya Mohan on winning the award, he said that it was her exemplary commitment shown to the profession that made her eligible for the award.

She was always available for students to solve any of their simplest doubts. Students consider her a kind teacher.

The Swami also dwelt on her long association with Chinmaya Mission, which has a large chain of educational institutions across the country.

Educationalist M V Pylee, Chinmaya Vidyalaya managing committee president P Radhakrishnan and managing committee member V N Venugopal spoke at the function. Students, teachers and parents also attended the function.

Cochin College Economics Department head Ajithkumar welcomed the gathering and Time Coaching centre managing partner Pramodkumar proposed vote of thanks.
