NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today directed to issue notice to Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliar in connection with the Chekanoor Moulavi murder case.

The court has also directed to send notices to other nine accused in the case, CBI and the State government. The court will take up the case next month. The order was issued when the plea submitted by Chekanoor’s uncle KK Sadi Haji was taken up.

Police still not dare to arrest Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musaliyar, all-India General Secretary of Sunni Jam-Iyyathul Ulema fearing retaliation from the Islamic Terrorists.

Chekanur Moulavi was a Scholar and reformist among Muslims in Kerala who questioned the traditional fundamentalism in the religion. He was kidnapped and killed by Islamic fundamentalists on June 29,1993.

Sunni Tiger force and Jamaithul Ishaniya were the terrorist organisations who had carried out the murder. K.P.Aboobacker Musliar is a Sunni Leader based in Kozhikode who is suspected to be the master brain behind this plot.

As usual Hindu organisations were blamed earlier. BJP had struggled a lot to implement CBI probe on this case and the investigation was stepped up when Shri Vajpayee took over his office as the Prime Minister.
