Celebration time for BJP in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: It was celebration time for the BJP supporters here on Wednesday. And, they have reason to celebrate.

Close on the heels of the announcement of the candidature of their leader O Rajagopal in the Assembly elections from his home constituency of Palakkad, it was a shot in the arm of the BJP – the order from the Division Bench of the High Court on the issue of the vice-chairman of Palakkad municipality.

The court verdict came as a relief for the people of the municipality as well, for the functioning of the civic council was badly hit due to shameless political game.

Development activities were delayed and funds lapsed due to the absence of a person to head the civic council.

According to BJP president N.Sivarajan, the court ruling is the victory of democracy and vindication of the BJP that there is no politics when it is a developmental and social issue.

Vice-chairman S R Balasubrahmanyam, who assumed office by around 4 this evening, said he would try to do as much as he can and also try to rush the municipal budget before the deadline of March 31
