Slain army captain’s family in shock

The news of the death of Capt Harshan in a gunfight with militants in Jammu & Kashmir plunged his family and neighbours here into shock and deep sorrow.
It was around 10.00 am that Harshan’s father Radhakrishnan Nair and mother Chithrambika, living in Attukal area, received the news from Defence authorities that their 25-year-old son was killed while fighting with militants in Kupwara district.
According to relatives, Harshan visited his parents last year. A product of Sainik School, Kazhakkoottam, Harshan joined the Army four-and-a-half years back.
Besides Harshan, another soldier G.S.Ratheeshkumar who also hails from Thiruvananthapuram died in the shoot out.
Four militants were also killed in the shootout which took place on early Tuesday.
