Call to Organize Kiss of Love in Kerala College Campuses

Clandestine message are now being circulated in stealth in colleges, calling for organizing the ‘Kiss of Love”. Sources have reported that all colleges campuses in Kerala are now receiving these messages, which have been giving a clarion call for the same, in a phased out manner. The recently held ‘Hug of Love’ in Maharajas College, Ernakulam is said to be the first step towards this.

Concepts like “stringent opposition being faced by ‘Kiss of Love’ should not be permitted at any cost, more lovers should be garnered for the purpose, consideration should be given towards those intending to get married, bringing of actors and actresses supporting the cause being brought in to campuses for encouraging the event” are said to be mentioned in the circular. The notice also elaborates on a plan of conducting an event on the same lines in Kannur, with Left- leaning organizations stated to be supporting the concept.

Reports also state that gay rights groups have been making visits to Maharajas College Ernakulam in recent days. It is said that the event ‘Hug of Love’ took place, following this.

The event is said to have taken place in the college campus, even though it was prohibited by the Principal. 10 students, including 4 boys and 6 girls have been suspended following their participation in the event. Organizers of the event ‘Kiss of Love’ are said to have shown their reservation towards the action and have warned of further such events and remonstrations.

Sources state that the sluggish pace at which police are probing into the suspected Maoist link, have given an impetus into conducting more events. Police are also said to be slackening regarding conducting a probe into the activities of event organizers Rahul Pasupal, Jijo George.
