Call to close slaughterhouses

KASARGOD: Central Animal Welfare Board member S K Mittal has suggested the closure of slaughterhouses in the town following a visit to the abattoirs on Monday.
Mittal made this suggestion at an official meeting convened by the District Collector. Mittal is a member of the commission appointed by the Union Government following a direction by the Supreme Court to inspect the slaughterhouses in the state.
Mittal who visited the slaughterhouses in the market found them unhygienic and dirty.
