KOCHI: “G Sankara Kurup and Ezhuthachan had the same philosophical wavelength.

“The main challenge being faced at present is how to combine modern science with Indian philosophy. Ezhuthachan equipped Malayalam language with the ability to be receptive to modern values,” novelist C Radhakrishnan has said.

He was speaking after receiving the Odakkuzhal award for his novel Theekkadal Kadanju Thirumadhuram at a function here on Friday.

Critic M Leelavathy, who presented the award, said a fitting memorial to the late poet is yet to come up. G’s wife had also wished for a memorial in the name of the poet. Sadly, that too didn’t materialise, she said.

However, she said she was happy that the award in the name of the late poet has been awarded for a novel written on the basis of Ezhuthachan’s life.
