Book on Abhaya: Arrest warrant against publisher
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate has issued an arrest warrant against Pen Books managing director Poly K Ayyampalli and director Shibi Poly in a cheque case filed by human rights activist Jomon Puthenpurackal. Jomon alleged that Poly and Shibi cheated him by giving a cheque of Rs 50,000 which had bounced. “They gave me the amount as the remuneration for a book on Abhaya case. The book `Abhaya case: The fight of a human rights activist’ was completed but Pen books didn’t publish it owing to pressures,’’ said Jomon in his petition moved through advocate Punchakkari Ravi. Magistrate A M Basheer issued an arrest warrant as the accused failed to turn up in the court even after receiving the summons.
