The BJP will take out a Raj Bhavan march on Saturday, urging the CPI(M)-led LDF Government to step up security to effectively check ‘fundamentalist activities’ across the State.

“After the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, the BJP wants the Kerala Government to ensure that the State remains free from suspected terrorists acts,” BJP State president PS Sreedharan Pillai told reporters on Friday.

After the march, the party leaders would submit a memorandum to the Governor seeking stern action against fundamentalists operating in the State, he said.

Accusing the ruling LDF and Opposition Congress-led UDF of failure to track down the culprits behind the bomb attacks here five months ago, he said Kozhikode in particular had witnessed a series of such acts in the recent past but the perpetrators of the crime continued to remain elusive.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Hindu Aikeya Vedi activists on Friday took part in a march to Home Minister Kodiyari Balakrishna’s residence here to protest the arrest of RSS leader Valsan Thillankery in Kannur recently.

Inaugurating the march, BJP State secretary PK Krishnadas alleged the arrest of Thillankery in connection with murder of a CPI(M) activist was made with an objective to divert the attention of the people from the real issues of the State. He alleged that the CPI(M) had a nexus with religious and extremist groups.

Krishnadas said that Marxist party’s stand would only help to encourage the terrorist activities in the State. “Even they had given a Marxist face to the State police,” he alleged.
