BJP, Yuva Morcha plan agitation against Govt

via Pioneer News Service | Kozhikode published on August 7, 2007

The BJP and the Yuva Morcha plan to launch a series of agitation against the policies pursued by the Left Government vis-a-vis Abdul Nasser Madani who has recently been released from Coimbatore Central Jail after the special court judge acquitted him of charges in the high profile Coimbatore bomb blast case, which claimed the lives of 58 innocent persons.

The BJP state general secretary MT Ramesh told mediapersons at Thiruvananthapuram that if the Left Front Government is planning to help Madani on the cases registered against him, the BJP would organise stringent agitation against the Government.

The BJP leader also said that the party would organise all those who were affected by the atrocities committed by Madani in his hey days and would conduct all possible agitation possible under a democratic frame work .

State president of the Bharateeya Janata Yuva Morcha K Surendran has also strongly come out against the Left Governments political stand towards Madani and has said that there is a conspiracy hatched out within the Government to withdraw cases registered in the State against Abdul Nasser Madani. Surendran demanded a full proof investigation into the deeds of Madani and on what he is up to in the intricacies of Kerala politics.

The Yuva Morcha leader said that the presence of State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan sharing a public stage with him is a clear pointer to this conspiracy.

The BJP has already opposed the acquittal of Madani and the State president of the party PK Krishnadas has said that both the fronts are in a race to capture Madani aiming vote bank politics. Madani has on his part said that he is a reformed and changed man and that he will not only for Islam and Muslim politics but for the whole of the country and that his major aim would be to work for the upliftment of the down trodden.

The PDP leader has also reasserted his speech at Thiruvananthapuram at a reception given to him in his home town of Mynagapally that he had done certain mistakes in the past and that he would not repeat these mistakes again. He said that the merciful god has given him the will and strength during his jail term and that for what the god has given he would return by serving the society.

The indications of Madani’s speeches are that he is aiming to emulate the Mayawati model politics in the State but there are a few political observers who are willing to share this statement. A former Member of Parliament and an active political leader with the Left Front told The Pioneer, “Madani is making all these soft speeches only because he is just out of the jail and has not come to terms with his past acquaintances and friends. Let us see what he would preach in a time frame of six months from now.”

The BJP and the RSS leadership has found that there should be clear strategies formulated and executed through the State on Madani and the danger of Muslim politics, which he would definitely take up in the days to come. There is a feeling among the leaders of these organisations that all efforts should be taken in not to allow him to capitalise on the dalit and downtrodden as he would use this as a ploy for his favourite conversion games.
