BJP worker Rajan’s death: When hooliganism stands supreme for DYFI-CPM.

The death of Rajan, the BJP worker was the result of an assault on him, by none other than his own relatives. According to the statement given by Rajan a few hours before his death, it was a group consisting of relatives who assaulted him. The reason for the assault was his endorsing of BJP, by flaunting the BJP flag in his tea stall. The accused are said to be DYFI-CPM activists.
According to police reports, “There was an array of BJP flags at Plappalli Junction, as part of the celebrations in connection with the oath taking ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Flags were tied in the tea shop owned by Rajan as well. However, a group came charging in and destroyed the flags. The group accused Rajan Pillai of having informed others about the destructive spree unleashed by them and then began questioning the former about the presence of BJP’s flag in the tea stall. They soon began assaulting him mercilessly.
Plapally had, in recent times, begun witnessing turbulent times. Following the death of Rajan Pillai, the situation has taken a turn for the worse. Police personnel have been deployed at the place. The homes of the accused have also come under police surveillance.
Those indicted are Anil Kumar (38), Shibu Kumar (33), Kalesh (30), Sarath (35). Anil Kumar and Shibu Kumar are the sons of his own brother, while Sarath happens to be another close relative.
Rajan, who was grievously assaulted, was undergoing treatment in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. He however, succumbed to his injuries.
