THRISSUR: BJP state president P K Krishnadas demanded an inquiry by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the activities of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Development Front (NDF) in Kerala.

Talking to newsmen after the conclusion of the three-day state committee meeting of the party here on Sunday, he said that the NIA should make a detailed probe into all the religious fundamentalist and terrorist organisations in the State. He said that the investigation should cover the training facilities provided by the PDP and the NDF to terrorists in Kerala, their overall activities and the sources of fund.

Krishnadas alleged that the LDF and the UDF have close association with these two organisations and the two fronts should clarify their position in this regard.

He said that the former UDF Government, with the support of the LDF, had granted Rs 10 lakh to the relatives of Askar who was killed in Marad. Subsequently, it was proved that Askar was one of the members of a professional killer gang that had organised the riot and murders in Marad.

Krishnadas said that his party would put up candidates in all the 20 Lok Sabha Constituencies of the State in the coming elections. A decision has been taken in this regard by the state committee at its meeting, he said.

He said that the BJP would take the initiative to work out a parallel electoral alliance to the LDF and the UDF in the State. Several leaders have expressed their displeasure over the way both the LDF and the UDF functioned in the State and the BJP would rope in these disgruntled leaders and organisations to form a viable parallel to the LDF and the UDF before the next elections, he said.

The BJP leader said that his party would organise conventions in all the 20 Lok Sabha Constituencies from January 20 to February 5 and would conduct family meets at booth-level from February 5 to 15. Senior party leaders would attend these meetings.

Krishnadas said that in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had created a surprise by securing victory to the candidate supported by it from Muvattupuzha.

Such miracles are expected in the next Lok Sabha elections in the State, he added.
