BJP to seek CBI probe into Marad carnage
KOCHI: The
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said it would launch an
agitation in the state demanding the Centre to announce a CBI inquiry
into the alleged conspiracy and the role of outside forces behind the
Marad carnage. “The state committee meeting of the party, scheduled to
be held on January 3 and 4 at Thrissur, will discuss the issue and
chalk out agitation programmes,†BJP senior leader O Rajagopal told
newsmen here. “The Centre has been remaining silent on the issue even
after the Marad Judicial Commission recommended a CBI probe into the
conspiracy behind the incident.
The Centre has been turning a deaf ear to the demand from various political parties, the state government and the Hindu outfits. What is preventing the Centre from ordering a CBI inquiry? It should make its stand clear to the public,†he said.
Rajagopal said that there was need for a CBI inquiry into the conspiracy angle as the real perpetrators were still at large.“It
is highly condemnable that Union Minister E Ahamed had forcefully
gained entry into the mosque which was sealed by the then district
collector after the carnage,†he said.
On the BJP doing well in
the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Rajagopal said, “the results
exemplified that no one can sustain in the political scenario of the
country by hurting the sentiments of the Hindus.
