BJP is people’s alternative to anti-people fronts: Krishnadas

KOTTAYAM: The BJP is the people’s alternative to the anti-people LDF and UDF in the state, party Kerala unit president P K Krishnadas on Tuesday said.

Briefing newspersons on the two-day state council meeting, he said a state-wide campaign would be staged presenting the BJP as people’s alternative to the anti-people Fronts (LDF and UDF).

In a political resolution the state council appealed to the Achuthanandan government to take immediate steps to contain religious extremists, underworld activists and Goondas in the state.

The LDF government had become inactive following the internal feud in the CPI (M) And lack of unity among the LDF constituents. The extremist organisations and others were extending their activities in the state following the failure of the government, he alleged.

Citing the Naxal model police station attack with lethal weapons under the alleged leadership of the Ndf at Kottackal in Malappuram district, he said “it was not an isolated incident but a planned one.”

The council, in another resolution, demanded the government to withdraw the Devaswom Bill as it was against the constitution, Hindu believers and secularism. “As in the case of Christians and Muslims, the temples should also be handed over to the believers,” he said.

About the propriety behind the government celebrating the golden jubilee of the E M S Namboodirppad government, Mr Kriashnadas said, “if the CPI (M) Was very particular in celebrating the jubilee, it should do that on its own.” The meeting appealed to the government to take immediate steps to bring down the prices of essential commodities. Karshaka Morcha would take the Nandigram issue to the farmers to reveal the real face of the CPI (M), He added.

Criticising the CPI (M)?S Approach towards the court and media he said it was part of their “fascist” agenda.

A ‘Janayatra’, (public rally) would be taken out from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram from April 30 to May 17. National leaders of the party would inaugurate the yatra and address it at different districts, he said.
