BJP leader B.K. Sekhar passes away

KOCHI: Senior BJP leader & state vice-president B K Sekhar passes away here today. He was admitted to the Amrita Hospital in Kochi on April 11 when his condition turned worse during electioneering. He was 51. His ailment was identified as liver cancer. The funeral is likely to be held tomorrow.

He leaves behind his wife Shyama P Kurup and daughter Gowri Kalyani.  He had served as Yuva Morcha state vice president, general secretary, BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president, state media cell convenor and party state spokesperson.

His contributions to the social and cultural fields are lauded. He was the director board member of the Canara Bank for a long time, university senate board member and airport development panel.

Leaders including Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan and opposition leader Oommen Chandy, have condoled the death of Sekhar who started his political career as a student leader.
