via Pioneer News Service | Thrissur published on June 18, 2007

The BJP State president PK Krishnadas has said that the CPI(M) and the Dewaswom Minister G Sudhakaran are insulting Hindus and the temple priests while trying to camouflage the administrative lapses of the Left Front Government. He was addressing a women’s meeting of the BJP in Guruvayur on the involvement of atheists and non- believers in the temple issues.

The BJP leader called upon the youth wing of the CPI(M), the DYFI and the Minister to write letters and to conduct an agitation in front of certain churches in the State which are not even allowing Christian believers who are from a different sect.

He challenged the Minister over whether he had the guts to attack such institutions rather than quibble over minor temple issues. The BJP leader also lashed out at the CPI(M) and said that the party was in no way connected to the problems and hardships faced by the Hindus and was trying to turn trivial issues into major State issues and was conducting unnecessary demonstrations.

Krishnadas also said that the Hindu community had never opposed changes and added that no where in the State were Hindu believers were prohibited from entering any temple and added that the CPI(M) should try to take the matter with the Christian churches and Muslim mosques where some people were not allowing entry to those from the different sects.

The BJP leader also called upon the CPI(M) to stop shedding crocodile tears in the temple issue and wondered why the CPI(M) who were pure non-believers and who had once raised the issue that destroying one Hindu temple would reduce the belief of the people by that much.

Krishndas said that during the Guruvayur temple satyagraha both AK Gopalan and P.Krishna Pillai were not communists and hence their participation during those days did not amount to any wrong.

The BJP leader also expressed the fear that the ultimate aim of the CPI(M) and the DYFI was to demolish the Guruvayur temple and called upon all the believers to be alert about the communist agenda. He said that the decision on who should enter the temple rests with the temple priests and Hindu society and not the communists or the Government and added that the BJP and the Hindu organisations would not allow the communists to do such a thing.

He said that the local CPI(M) office would not have any role to play in the issue of entry in Guruvayur. The CPI(M) is a political party which had taken action against those legislators who had taken the oath of office in the name of god, said the BJP State president and wondered as to what right did such a party have in the internal affairs of the Guruvayur temple.

Krishnadas also said that the Dewasom Minister G.Sudhakaran was trying to create a wedge between the Ezhavas and the Nairs and thus have a discord among the Hindu brotherhood of the State .The BJP leader said that the party would conduct mass awarness programmes throughout the State against such moves of the CPI(M) .

Earlier in the day the agitation of the BJP women was inaugurated by veteran film actress Sukumari and KL Mohanavarma. BJP leaders PK Krishnadas, MT Ramesh, CK Padmanabhan ,Sreeshan Adiyaat and Sreekumar Ezhuvappady participated in the programme.
