BJP demands Kodiyeri’s resignation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP’s state unit president P S Sreedharan Pillai, today demanded that Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan resign, “owning moral responsibility for recurrence of custodial deaths in the state.” Addressing a press conference here, in the state’s history that 10 custodial deaths had been reported within a short span of two months.


On the Sabarimala tantri issue, he said “let the law take its own course.” The government and Travancore Dewasom Board should not become part of the controversy that would hurt the sentiments of devotees.


The BJP is of the view that administration of temples in the state should be handed over to devotees similar to the way Muslims and Christians manage their mosques and churches.
