Bible presented to film star Menaka at temple premises

via HK Correspondent published on March 13, 2010

THIRUVANTHAPURAM : Certain Christian groups have turned aggressive in their efforts to convert prominent Hindus and one such group has been functioning at Kumarapuram in Thirvananthapursm under the guidance of an influential Pastor. Film star Menaka was recently invited to inaugurate a function at a family temple near Marappalam at Trivandrum. While returning after the function, she was presented a packet. On returning to home only she opened the packet and found a Bible in it. That bible was in Tamil language since her mother tongue is Tamil. Maneka and her husband Mr.Suresh Kumar informed about their find to the temple authorities and strongly condemned the way that temples are also being used for conversion, definitely with the aid and abetment from some Hindus involved in the temple management.

A similar incident happened with film star Suresh Gopi as well recently, but he happened to open the packet on receipt and found a `set mundu’ and bible in it. He strongly condemned the effort and expressed his unhappiness about such a daring attempt.

These are not isolated incidents, but came to public notice since the persons involved were prominent. Targeting prominent personalities for conversion is spreading in Kerala and the functionaries involved found the situation in Kerala very conducive to fulfill their designs. Violent reaction alone could deter them from such attempts and devote Hindus in concerned areas should care to take up such issues creating wide publicity and punitive measures.
