KERALA: The Nair Service Society on came out strongly against the Left and Congress parties , alleging that both were equally  responsible for dividing the Hindu community in the name of backward castes and forward castes.

Presenting a resolution at the 96th Vijayadasami Nair Mahasammelanam on Monday, in Changanassery , NSS assistant secretary G Sukumaran Nair said that while the Christians were  enjoying the minority status and the Muslims were given the backward and minority benefits, the backward sections among the Hindus were being misled by enticing them.
The political parties are adopting a policy of isolating the Hindus , including the Nair community, stated the resolution and called for continued efforts to secure the benefits for the economically poor to all Hindus irrespective of their caste.

Earlier, inaugurating the meet, NSS general secretary P K Narayana Panicker criticised the educational policy being followed in the State, where the system of  examinations was being entirely done away with.”An unpleasant scenario is likely to emerge from such an unthought polciy, wherein students from Kerala would not be able to look beyond Kasargod,” he warned.

NSS president P V Neelakanta Pillai presided over the function. Treasurer P N Narendranathan Nair, registrar V P Haridas, director board members Harikumar Koyikkal and N S Prabhakaran Pillai spoke. N Jayaraj MLA also attended the function.

But it is ironical that it is the NSS which stood in it’s way most of the time against fulfilling the dream of Hindu Unity. HK don’t wish  remind their partisan stands taken in many of the issues recently and how they were instrumental in promoting church throughout in past decades.

If belated good sense prevails upon the NSS  leadership in this juncture, Hindu organisations should come forward to materialize this change of mind . Time will prove whether this Vijayadashami speech is a sincere attempt from their side to stay united with other Hindus or just another a leadership gimmick to stay in power.

Will now NSS be bold enough to ditch their equidistant policy towards left and Congress and declare their support to organisations who are tirelessly working towards Hindu unity?
