Balagokulam performed ‘Gopooja’ at Guruvayur

GURUVAYUR: The Balagokulam performed ‘Mahagopooja’ outside the premises of Sree Krishna temple here on Wednesday.

The Mahagopooja was performed as part of the Ashtamirohini celebrations on September 3.

Nearly fifty cows were taken to the temple premises in a colouful procession accompanied by children in the attire of Sree Krishna, Radha and gopalakas and Nagaswaram. Bhagavatha Acharyan Anjam Krishnan Namboothiri, Temple Othikkan Munnoolam Nelakantan Namboothiri and Vengeri Krishnan Namboothiri led the rituals.

The cows were also fed with grass and plantains. Hindu Aiykavedi leader Kummanam Rajasekharan, Balagokulam leader P A Hari Narayanan, Sreedharan Master, K Krishnan, celebration committee chairman Karumathil Rajan , councillor Shobha Hari Narayanan, Mathrusamithi leaders Pushpa, Jyothi Raveendran and hundreds of devotees attended the pooja.
