Balagokulam to conduct 8000 Shobha Yatras today

         Cultural functions would be organized at more than 10000 places

KOCHI : More than 8,000 Shobha Yatras would mark the celebration of Sri Krishna Jayanthi on Ashtami Rohini on Monday. Chief organising body of the celebrations, Balagokulam, informed that the functions to mark Krishna Jayanthi would be organised at more than 10,000 places.

More than 2 lakh children would wear special garbs to look alike childhood Krishna and Gopikas. Floats would be arranged at processions to depict events and personalities of Puranas, and Bhajan teams would follow the processions, the organisation said. Film maker Fazil and SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan would inaugurate the programmes at different places.

The temple town of Guruvayur has completed its preparations for the event. Bhagavata Saptaham has already started at Sri Krishna temple. Kazhchaseeveli would take place here in the morning and at noon, and the Ezhunnallippu at night. Peruvanam Kuttan Marar would lead the team at the percussion Panchari Melam. The percussion ensemble would be led by Kalamandalam Parameswaran. There would be sumptuous birthday meals at the temple for devotees. Preparation of Neyyappam would start on Monday morning, which would be offered to Lord Krishna in pooja at night.
