Ayurvedic scholar Raghavan Thirumulpad passes away

Chalakudy: Ayurvedic scholar and physician Vaidyaratnam K Raghavan Thirumulpad (90) passed away at his house on Sunday morning at 5.30. Final rites will take place at his ancestral house `Rajavihar’ in the evening.

Vaidyabhooshanam Raghavan Thirumulpad is a name that is widely acknowledged in the ayurveda fraternity as an exemplary academician and as a physician. Born to K. Lakshmikkutty Nambishtathiri and D. Narayana Iyer at Chingol in Alappuzha district of Kerala in 1920, Thirumulpad is one of the few purists who believe in sustaining and practicing the age-old wisdom of Ayurveda in its entirety.

Raghavan Thirumulpad had the fortune to learn ayurveda in the traditional Gurukula system. Thirumulpad is also a prolific writer, and has to his credit, several titles on ayurveda and few works on spiritual topics.

The Vaidyabhooshanam K. Raghavan Thirumulpad Foundation for studies in Ayurveda was established by Thirumulpad in 2000.
